She knows she’s been reduced to tucked in feet and fists curled so tightly that her nails draw blood from her palms. She knows there’s blood in her mouth from biting her tongue and holding herself back when he’s screaming or sneering at everything she does. 
She knows she has become something other than she used to be. More volatile. Curled up tightly under empty sheets, afraid he’ll be back with fists for guns.
She knows she’s afraid of looking at the wound when it has already dug itself deep into her chest. 
He was toxic. The poison clawed its way deep into the cavities of her bodies and left scars that won’t fade.
She doesn’t try bandaging herself. She watches them grow, standing naked in front of the mirror, her eyes sunk deep into their sockets, paranoia turned into palpitations coursing through her veins. 
She knows he’s gone. She knows now there’s space. For her to heal. To grow.

I dreamed about you again last night, your smile was sweet, your voice kind, and your eyes only on me. We talked for hours on end without ever a lag in conversation. We were always able to do that, remember? But when i woke up to a hard stare accompanied by an insatiable stretch of silence, i couldn't help but feel like i am in love with a version of you which no longer exists...... out of words you think out of remorse YOU FUCKING THINK! To the one that I lost,  Tonight I watched a meteor shower with a boy. He was a very nice boy- more than nice, he was charming and funny and kind, and we ran barefoot under the stars to dance to our favourite song at the party, and he lent me his blue velvet jacket and pulled me up onto the wall to sit with him. And we watched the shooting stars, and he held my hand and turned his head, and we kissed. And it was a very nice kiss. And that’s why I hated you right at that moment.  Because I know, that every time I ever do something like that; watching silver bursts of light on the midnight blue, or kissing someone with the music playing behind my back, or dipping my legs in the freezing river with my party clothes still on, I will think of you. And I will think of running through the sand dunes and lying with you by the fire on the beach and your guitar and your smell and your brown hands and your hands in my hair and your lips on mine and our favourite songs together, and ...

I love you and i know this. I know this because every time the warm sand of beach touches my feet i see you, in the visible yet non existing horizons. I know this because every time i would sit down and watch a sunset, i picture you. Every time i would sit beneath the sky full of stars with a cup of coffee, i still see you beside me tracing patterns with your fingers in the sky. Every time i would walk along the river there will be a part if you, with me. When i wake up in the morning the first thing i still do is to reach out for you and you're not there darling. Once again, We drove in cars and drank in rebellion.
