I've listened to our song exactly forty two times today hoping to discover the meaning of it all.
hoping to travel back in time to when I asked you, "can this be our song?" and you replied 'I thought it already was" And I thought of when you said, "will you be mine?" and I replied " I thought I already was?" and then the day we,said good bye and you told me now you'd carry me as a memory and I said out classic line " I thought I already was" And now I hear your voice calling to me through the string of acoustic guitar, past the oceans between us, saying "I hope you'll be happy one day" and me just shouting back to the empty space " I thought I already was"
